m-ifw; KL Six Gala

Headed down to The Gardens Hotel to catch the KL Six Gala last night.

The line-up for the night was Sharifah Kirana, Sonny San, Eric Choong, Melinda Looi, Radzuan Radziwill & Tom Abang Saufi.

The show kicked start with the collection by Tom Abang Saufi
which showcased her signature batik inspired pieces
as well as funky printed dresses.

And I loved the heels worn by the models!
It was basically the exact same heel but with different coloured straps, which I'm pretty sure can be changed to match the outfits.
So practical :)

Next in line was Sonny San
who by the way, is the man behind Eclipse
with a classy dressy collection.

And don't you think that the model in the midnight blue dress looks like Anne Hathaway?

Then along came Radzuan Radziwill
with a lovely evening wear collection
which was all flowy sheer chiffon.

Who next but Eric Choong
with an even lovelier collection of evening wear
which was to die for.

The material he used was so gorgeous and glamorous and glittery and glitzy and it came in every colour.

He was followed by none other than Sharifah Kirana
with her bright and bold batik creations.

And wrapping up the show was Melinda Looi
with a very interesting collection
and a whole lot of leather.

Interesting as it was, the leather and the dull colours kinda reminded me of a wilting flower...

m-ifw; Asia Magic Gala

Last night was the Asia Magic Gala of the m-ifw which showcased creations of several designers of Asia.

They were, Tangoo (Malaysia), Deepak Perwani (Pakistan), Zenithorial (Thailand), Meidi Zhang(China), Dorian Ho (Hong Kong) and Farah Khan (Malaysia).

First up, Tangoo (Malaysia)
with a tribal-like animal-printsy collection
which I absolutely loved

And then came Dorian Ho (Hong Kong)
whose collection was very very cute
and kinda reminded me of Alice in Wonderland

Who next but Zenithorial (Thailand)
with his classy collection of silk and dresses
and very very cool shoes

And then it was time for Deepak Perwani (Pakistan)
with his collection of evening gowns
that were beaded, sequined or embroidered

Shortly after, along came Meidi Zhang (China)
whose collection was wooly, knitted and crocheted
and were also paired with real awesome boots

Until finally, centre stage belonged to Farah Khan (Malaysia)
with her classic fully sequined short dresses
and so much more

My favourite collection of the night was by Tangoo.
I guess it's probably because I love animal prints alot.

Now, how am I supposed to get my hands on that lovely zebra corset of theirs?

m-ifw; Carven Ong Couture & Graduate Showcase

I fell in love with Carven Ong's creations when I caught his showcase at last year's m-ifw.

And it was then I decided that, Carven Ong would be the one to design my wedding dress. :)

Yes, I love his creations that much.

So when it was time for his show in the m-ifw, I had to go.
Even if it meant skipping college.

The first half of the show was the Carven Academy Graduate Showcase.

Most of the designs were exceptionally unique while others could've passed as a Carven Ong creation.

My favourite was a gorgeous chiffon evening gown (see 3rd picture, though it hardly does it justice) which was simply divine.

Then it was time for the main event, that is;
The Carven Ong Autumn/Winter Collection.

And I loved it.

All the vibrant colours, the silk and chiffon and the layers were gorgeous!

m-ifw; mifa8 - Fashion Forward

Got my first taste of mifa for the year today at mifa8 - Fashion Forward.

The spotlight was on 8 fashion students, namely; Michelle Hee, Yong Kai Yuan, Frederich Herman, Daniel Ngo, Yeoh Beng Hong, Sabrina Tan, Yew Swee Ling and the one and only, Julia Leong!

So, the showcase was alright though the highlight would definitely be Julia Leong's collection.

Her patchwork pieces were very very very the pretty.
And her beekeeper inspired piece; very interesting.

Yes, I'm a fan. :)

Julia deserves to win the award, and she will!
You wait and see.

With the designer herself, Ms. Julia Leong

University College London: Offer Receieved

So, it seems as though someone in UCL must've liked my personal statement. :)

An A for Maths? No problem.
An A for Econs/Physics? Can do.

But an A in Further Maths!?
Now, that's not gonna be easy.

Thirtyfour's Perspective

Headed down to the Chin Woo Stadium with much help from Google Maps for thirtyfour in perspective.

Though I'm not such a great fan of leather, I found some of their pieces very very nice indeed.

No pictures though.
I was forced to delete them by some mean lady!
Nah, just joking. I totally understand. :)

The DIY Station; Let the pimping begin!

Hmm, maybe a stud or two..

The final product!

I think I need to pay a visit to No.86-1 down my road sometime soon to get my own thirtyfour piece.

m-ifw '08

Happening in just 9 more days and I cannot wait.
Here's to 4 full days of fashion, fashion and more fashion.

Wait, maybe not 4 full days..
Unless, I skip college of course.
Now, that's an idea. :)

This is my father's brother
Which makes him my uncle
Who also happens to be the Chairman of mifa

I guess it does pay off to have an uncle who is the mifa Chairman.
Free VIP tickets. Oh, joy. :)

Do you see the third girl from the left?

That's my friend, Julia.
And I sure as hell am proud of her for getting into the mifa8-fashion forward!

She'll be showing her designs on the 26th along with 7 others.
And the poor dear is awfully stressed out about it.
Though I guess that comes with the job. :)

All the best babe!
I shall be there rooting for you.

And if I'm near the judges...
Okay, let's not go there.

U.O.X Play-ed

When it started raining I thought the U.O.X. Play was doomed.
But then, it stopped and the U.O.X Play was back in business. :)

Headed down to Capsquare around 4 to see what they had in store.

The huge stage set up for the performing artistes

The quirky art designs on display

And of course, the Threadszoo bazaar!

Met up with Jeen from TiC who once again forced to take a photo.
That photo will not be uploaded however.
My face really cannot make it. :(

I didn't get myself anything thanks to the fact that I am flat broke due to what is known as online shopping.

So, the U.O.X. Play may not have been as great as the Urbanscapes but hey, it wasn't too shabby. :)

As for those of you who missed out on today, fret not!

The Play continues on the 29th of November in Penang and on the 6th of December in KL once more.

U.O.X. Play

Ladies, clear your calendars for this Saturday because that would be the day that U.O.X. Play's Block Party will be going on at CapSqaure KL!

If you enjoyed yourself at KLue's Urbanscapes earlier this year, you'd better not miss out on this.

And this time Threadszoo will be collaborating with Tongue in Chic for a completely new addition, the Chic Charity.

"Donate pre-loved or brand new clothes to the TiC Chic Charity booth at the U.O.X. PLAY centre. Every piece you donate will be put up for sale at RM5-15 and all proceeds go to the Women's Aid Organization (WAO). And by all, we mean all - every single cent. Of course, everyone's encouraged to shop there too!" -www.tonguechic.com

For more information, head on over to the official U.O.X. site.

Thirtyfour In Perspective

thirtyfour, creator of hand crafted leather accessories, has steadily gained momentum in the fashion industry.

Located at 86-1 Jalan Medang Serai (just down my road!), thirtyfour strives to fuse form with function in their designs.

And on the 18th of this month, they'll be throwing their first huge event and show called, "thirtyfour in perspective".

Expect to see their past designs as well as an exclusive preview of their new Fall Winter '08 collection.

And guess who manage to snag a pair of invites for the show?

I can't wait. Heehee. :)

Btw; I heard TiC are giving away 10xinvites so hurry up and get yours now!

Nokia Nuffnang Silent Halloween Rocks

Exactly one week ago, Nuffnang and Nokia collaborated and threw a Silent Halloween Party.

It was the first ever Silent Party in Malaysia and who better to be one of the first to experience it than the Nuffnang bloggers!

Finding Borneo Baruk Club was easy enough, considering there was a mummy right at the door!

The whole place was decorated with all kind of spookies which totally created the perfect Halloween mood.

Gosh, the resemblance is uncanny isn't it? :)

Because there simply weren't enough mummies around!

100 bucks to the last balloon alive!

Until finally, it was time for the main event; The Silent Dance.

Everybody pulled out their music devices, plugged in their earphones and tuned in to the sounds of DJ Nicky C.

Some bloggers were totally into it, showing off their moves.
While others preferred to just shake their heads to the beat.
I was the latter. :)

The whole Silent Dance concept was pretty interesting.
It was amusing to watch people moving to a totally different beat other than what you were hearing.

Yeah, everybody wasn't perfectly synchronised.

Not long after, the latest addition to Nokia's every growing family ie. the Nokia 5800 was revealed.

And yes, it is very cool and canggih. :)

And then it was time for the announcement of best dressed nominees!

Those in the running for The I-Want-My-Mummy Award:
The Desperate Houswife, Paris Hilton & The Slutty Joker Nurse

Those in the running for The You-Made-Us-Pee-Our-Pants Award:
The Pirate, Satan & Kurt Cobain

Then up came the lovely Nuffies with smashing prizes for the night's winners.

Winers of the night included;
Nigel Lai (The Most Creative Post)
Goh Kel Li & Yap Chee Seng (The Best Silent Dancer Awards)
Pirate & Satan (The You-Made-Us-Pee-Our-Pants Awards)
Paris Hilton & Joker Nurse (The I-Want-My-Mummy Awards)

And that wrapped up a great night. :)

Much thanks to Nuffnang and Nokia for such an awesome night.

Hopefully there'll be many many more to come. :)

It's Treasure Hunting Time!

When Sheryl asked me join her CG in her Church's Treasure Hunt, I said yes.

I mean, it's a Treasure Hunt!
Who wouldn't want to go? :)

The first clue came in through sms;
Go to www.beaconatbangsar.com

Upon solving these 4 clues, we got 4 sets of questions to solve.

And upon completing the set of questions, we were given envelopes containing a bunch of words which had to be re-arranged to form a verse from the Bible.

And in the end; we won. :)

Yeaaaaaap, we Eklektos did it again.

Now we're ranked 3rd with one last competition to go; Bible Quiz or was it Challenge..

When Netballers BBQ

Several posts back I wrote about HELP's Sports Carnival in which the A-Level's Netball Team which yours truly is in were the champions.

This called for a celebration! (Yes, we'll use any excuse to party)
A celebration in the form of a BBQ party at MeyChyi's house.

But then again, perhaps we should've just stuck to playing Netball instead of trying to cook. Heehee. :)

"Everybody stand back! I'm turning on the gas!"

First up; The Lamb

Presenting; Chef Carmen
"Now, we've just gotta let it cook, nice and slowly."

And her assistant (?); Natasha
"Nice and slowly..."

"Motheeeer, not cooked!"
I guess nice and slowly doesn't work. :)

Next up; The Chicken Wings

Presenting; Chef Sel
"Hmph, I'll show them who's the better chef!"

"Yum!"

Supergirl and Batgirl

So dinner wasn't that bad.
The Garlic Bread and Potato Salad were yummy not to mention we stuffed our faces full with marshmallows. :)

And then, it was time for Taboo!

Team RCS (Rachel-Carmen-Sheryl) VS Team Z (MeyChyi-Sel-Tash)

Needles to say, Team RCS whooped Team Z's behinds.

Tremble at the power of Team RCS. :)

We Love To Move It, Move It

When I first found out they were making a sequel to Madagascar, it was immediately put on my "Must Watch Movies" list.

For months I was teased with the trailer of Madagascar 2.
Until yesterday, I finally managed to catch the movie.

Thanks much to KY and Nuffnang for the tickets to the premiere screening. :)

The movie kicks off with the stranded New Yorkers having found a way off the shores of Madagascar credits to the Penguins who managed to repair an old crashed plane.

But then again, how well could a bunch of Penguins repair an old crashed plane?

Clearly, not very well.

And so, instead of returning home, the animals wind up in none other than the wild plains of Africa.

And that's where the fun starts. :)

Expect a whole lot of laughs from Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa.

Coming to theaters near you on the 13th of November.

Property of Yours Truly

Headed down to Mid Valley today to pick up my new toy.

She's amazingly slim, just 6.2mm thick.
Not to mention incredibly lightweight, only 36.8g.

With 16GB of space, she's perfect for me.
Me being not that musically inclined. :)

But most of all, she's gorgeous.

For more info about the 4th generation iPod Nano, click here.
I'm too shallow, all I can see are her physical attributes. :)

I'm in love

TA Charity Fun Fair

Headed down to town this morning for the Charity Fun Fair held by my dad's office.

There wasn't much.

Though there were some pretty cool stall games.
Couldn't resist trying them out. Heehee.
That is, until the little kids there starting owning me.
Malu sial. ><

In the end, I just decided to use all my coupons on food.
But even after buying everything they were selling;
I still had coupons.

Didn't know what to do with them.
Until I found this lil' shop over here.

I bought a sunflower. :)

Hellooo sunshine!

The party starts in less than 2 hours.
Perhaps I should go get ready.

I'll buy the person who can guess what I'm going as a cookie.

Speaking of cookies; all the best to the Cookie Monsters!
They'll be competing in the APIIT Dance Tournament tonight.
You know who you should root for now. :)
